Cameron Cartiere

Dr. Cameron Cartiere is the Dean of Graduate Studies at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, formerly a Co-Director of the Centre for Media, Culture and Creative Practice and senior lecturer on the MA in Arts Policy & Management at Birkbeck, University of London. She specialises in sculpture parks and gardens, public art, curatorial practice, museum education and critical theory.

Current research projects involve the global history of the modern sculpture park, curating in the public realm, a study on the effectiveness of public art in developing sustainable communities, and an interdisciplinary study on the relationships between public art, cultural memory and government policy.

Recent publications include Re/Placing Public Art: The Role of Place-Specificity in New Genre Public Art, the anthology The Practice of Public Art (co-editor Shelly Willis) and The Manifesto of Possibilities: Commissioning Public Art in the Urban Environment (co-author Sophie Hope).

Dr. Cartiere was the inaugural Scholar-in-Residence at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and a research fellow at the Henry Moore Institute in Leeds (2008-2009).
