About us

The Society was established in 1980 by graduates in Ecology and Conservation courses from Birkbeck, University of London, and we maintain close links with the College. We aim to encourage interest in conservation, based on sound ecological principles, by arranging lectures, field visits and meetings.

The members of our Society have varied professional backgrounds and share a common interest in ecology and conservation.

We organise free public lectures hosted by the Department of Geography, Birkbeck, University of London. The lectures are suitable for those considering, or undertaking, courses in ecology, biological conservation or related subjects. They will interest environmental and ecological practitioners, natural historians, wildlife organisations and others with similar interests.
