A chance to polish your Public Engagement Awards application

The Birkbeck Public Engagement Awards recognise and celebrate researchers undertaking innovative and exemplary public engagement activities. In particular, we celebrate research that builds on Birkbeck’s tradition of socially engaged research and the College’s historical mission to engage with a wide and diverse range of people outside of academia.

Entries are now being accepted for the Birkbeck Public Engagement Awards 2019. Shortlisted entries and winning projects will be recognised at the Birkbeck Public Awards Ceremony on 26 March 2019. Read about last year’s winners here.

If you have any questions, please contact the Public Engagement Team or join them for a Q&A session, from 12.30pm (for PhD students) or from 1pm (for researchers), on 21 January 2019 in room B04, Malet Street.

National Forum for Public Engagement with STEM – survey

The National Forum for Public Engagement with STEM is conducting a survey of all those that work in Public Engagement with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). The survey will take about 20 minutes to complete. It is being delivered by the NCCPE acting as secretariat to the National Forum. The purpose of the survey is to:

  • gather useful intelligence about organisations working in informal STEM engagement
  • understand better the relevance of the work of the National Forum and how it could be improved
  • gather data on diversity and inclusion

Engaged Practice Symposium at Birkbeck

Engaged Practice Symposium at Birkbeck

Monday 17th September 2018
10.30-17.00
Birkbeck, University of London

This event will bring together Birkbeck researchers with an active interest in participation, involvement and collaboration with communities and publics, within research and knowledge production.

To support this engaged practice, sessions will be focused on sharing experience, networking, and exploring opportunities for funding. Researchers from across the Schools will talk about their projects; discuss their methodologies, challenges, and successes. We will also consider the future support that would be beneficial throughout the engaged research process.

This event is open to all Birkbeck researchers with an interest in dialogue with non-academic groups, throughout the lifespan of their research. The programme will be announced in late-July.
