Academic Standards and Quality
The Academic Standards and Quality team in Registry Services manages the quality assurance and enhancement procedures on behalf of the College. This includes activity such as; programme approval, quality monitoring, student feedback and partner collaborations. You can watch a podcast about the roles and responsibilities of ASQ here.
Academic Standards and Quality at Birkbeck are supported by a governance structure of the College Academic Board, the College Teaching and Quality Enhancement Committee and School Teaching and Quality Enhancement Committees. Learning and Teaching is embedded into quality standards and is driven by the College Strategy for Learning and Teaching Enhancement.
Strategy for Learning and Teaching Enhancement (SLATE)
The Strategy for Learning and Teaching Enhancement provides the strategic framework for the development of learning and teaching at Birkbeck.
It should be viewed as providing the guiding principles for the development and enhancement of learning and teaching, setting the context for the remit of the College Teaching and Quality Enhancement Committee and School teaching and quality enhancement activities.
The Strategy has been explicitly designed to fully engage staff with its aims and to promote ideas for future learning and teaching enhancement activities as well as priorities/targets for which the College can be held to account.
