National Student Survey 2012 Promotional Materials

The 2012 National Student Survey was launched on 9th January 2012.  In order to maximise response rates for the 2012 Survey and ensure that the results are as reliable as possible Team Leaders, the Students' Union and Library have been sent the following promotional materials:

  • Pens, Coasters and Boomerangs
  • Flyers, A4, A3 and A0 posters

The following electronic materials, logos and supporting correspondence are also available at the links below:

Team Leaders, the Students' Union and Library have been asked to ensure that the pens, coasters, boomerangs and flyers are handed out to students in the Library, Students’ Union facilities and Departments, for example via Departmental and School offices or during lectures and seminars, that the posters are prominently displayed on notice boards, and the electronic materials, circular letters and newspaper articles utilised where possible including via announcements on Blackboard.  Promotion should tie in with the above start date for the Survey.  It is particularly important that promotion of the Survey includes reference to all students studying on undergraduate level courses.  At Birkbeck, this includes students who are studying for an individual module only or are enrolled on a Certificate of Higher Education, a Foundation degree or a BA/BSc Honours.

External Relations have also produced a briefing documentword format , which provides guidance for Birkbeck staff regarding the 2012 Survey, and a presentationppt format .  The presentation can be used in lectures/seminars to inform students about the NSS.

Departments have been asked to ensure that their students:

  • feel free to give their honest feedback on what they liked and did not like about their degree programme/award;
  • are not asked to fill in the survey while a member of staff is overseeing their responses or made to feel that their responses are being monitored;
  • are not encouraged to reflect in their answers anything other than their genuine perception of their experience.

A targeted email has been sent out by the Master to all Birkbeck students to be included in the 2012 Survey.  External Relations will also be promoting the NSS through displaying NSS screen savers in the My Birkbeck Student Centre and on the Malet Street plasma screens, setting up a large window display, and advertising the survey via the My Birkbeck home page and Birkbeck news pages.
