The Teaching and Quality Enhancement Committee (TQEC) recommends that Departments should provide students with two types of opportunity to comment formally on their learning experience and to offer advice about how teaching provision might be enhanced. The questionnaires may be contextualised to meet the specific requirements of each Department. Those Departments that already have questionnaires in place may utilise these providing they elicit the required information set out in the questionnaires below. This decision was taken in order to achieve some degree of College-wide consistency in the design of the questionnaires that students are asked to complete; and to reflect best practice in eliciting information about our students' learning experience and how it might be enhanced and improved.
End of Year Surveys (Undergraduate and Postgraduate)
The TQEC expects that all Departments and programmes within Birkbeck will have implemented this system of student feedback (with modifications to suit local needs and requirements). In addition, they are also encouraged to request that students who withdraw complete the Student Withdrawal Survey.
The Quality Enhancement and Validation section of Registry Services can arrange for any of the above surveys to be placed on-line using software from Bristol On-Line Surveys. Please contact Natalie Jayasekara (n.jayasekara@bbk.ac.uk) if you are interesting in piloting a survey on-line.
The annual programme reports, which must be completed for all taught degrees, include a section reflecting upon matters raised and action taken in response to student feedback e.g. student-staff exchange committee meetings and student feedback questionnaires.
