Teaching and supervision

Dr Narayan established the open access BSc Social Science programme and is Director of the MA Culture Diaspora Ethnicity programme. She convenes and teaches the modules 'Race', Racism, Postcoloniality' and 'Culture, Community, Identity'.

Areas of research supervision

Caribbean creolisation; histories of 'race' and racism; racialisation and postcoloniality; beauty and popular culture; urban cultures and social identities; cultural politics and ethnography.

Current supervisory responsibilities

She currently supervises PhD students in the research areas of transnational Caribbean religious communities, diasporic consciousness, South Asian political communities in London and 'race', class and psychotherapeutic practice.
