Not sure whether psychology is for you?

If you aren’t sure whether psychology is for you, we recommend starting your studies on our Certificate programme, which is taught and assessed at the same level as the first year of the degree. If you find you like psychology and want to carry on your studies, you can transfer the credit for the courses you’ve passed onto the degree. Whether you are transferred to the first or second year of the degree will depend on which courses you’ve completed and your grades. If you achieve grades of 50+% in all the relevant courses you may apply to the second year of the part-time degree.

Any of the courses on the Certificate programme may be taken on their own without having to commit to the full programme. People often start with our introductory course Foundations of Modern Psychology, to test their interest and get an overview of the discipline of psychology. This helps students decide which other courses might be of interest. That said, a lot of people start with the course that sounds of most interest – view the full set here.

If you complete the necessary modules you can use the credit you've gained to progress directly onto different stages of our programmes:

Have a look at our advice on transferring credit between programmes for further details and contact us for advice if at all unsure.
