I am a comparative cognitive neuroscientist investigating human and animal cognition in order to gain a better understanding of both the evolution and typical development of human cognition. I obtained a BSc in Cognitive Science at the University of California San Diego and a subsequent doctorate in Experimental Psychology from Oxford University. Through my degrees, I gained experience with brain-imaging and quantitative data analysis methods. As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (University of Sussex) I married my understanding of brain organization and function with the quantitative evaluation of non-verbal human and non-human primate naturalistic behaviour. Currently, I am investigating links between motor and cognitive abilities during the evolution and development of social and communication processes. My participant populations consist of: gorillas, chimpanzees, typically developing children and children diagnosed with autism.
