Dr Marie Smith is co-director of the first year module Introduction to Research Methods (IRM) alongside Dr Emma Meaburn. Detailed information about this course can be obtained on the appropriate pages of the blackboard learning environment.

Dr Marie Smith would be willing to consider potential project students interested in studying all areas of facial perception and categorization (e.g. emotional perception, attractiveness, social interaction) at varying levels of awareness. Other interests include ultra fast perception, the roles of expectation and prediction in visual perception, the discrete nature of perception and the effects of ageing on perception and cognition.

Methodologies available: psychophysics, behavioural measures (accuracy, reaction times), event related potentials (ERPs).
