Fees and financial support for current undergraduate students

If you started your studies either in or prior to the 2011/12 academic year, your tuition fees will be subject to annual increases in future years, but you will not be asked to pay the much higher fees likely to be introduced for new students from 2012.

Fees

  • If you started your studies in or prior to the 2011/12 academic year, your tuition fees will be subject to annual increases in future years and, as a continuing student, you will remain under the existing (pre-2012) fees and funding system. (You can find out what your fees will be and payment details for this year by logging into your My Birkbeck profile.)
  • Birkbeck’s 2011/2012 part-time home/EU student fees are £2,478-£3,090 per year. This is much more affordable than the current fee of £3,375 per year for a full-time University of London degree.
  • You will find our current fees listed on our course descriptions, which you can find using our online course finder.
  • Please note: we also offer a 10% discount for union members.

Financial support

  • Under the current funding system, all financial support for part-time undergraduate students remains non-repayable. So, if you're eligible for financial support, and you start your studies in 2011, you will receive the funding for the duration of your course, and you won't have to worry about paying it back when you graduate. (Note: the changes to student finance in 2012 mean that these non-repayable packages will not longer be available for new students starting their studies in 2012.)

Payment details

  • If you started your studies in or prior to the 2011/12 academic year, for part-time study, your tuition fees are payable on enrolment.
  • Because we understand that it can be difficult pay all your fees upfront, we provide flexible payment options to make it easier for you to manage your finances at no extra cost. You have the option of paying in instalments either monthly by direct debit or termly by credit/debit card.
