Kwesi was able to get financial support from Birkbeck to complete his course.
'No-one can stop me boasting about Birkbeck,' says Kwesi Brebu (55), who received an award for the best improvement throughout his degree. 'When I heard about Birkbeck at an adult education class, what a chance it was, I took it.''The financial help I received from Birkbeck was instrumental in my success,' says Kwesi, who is a carer for his wife. 'I wouldn't have been able to get my degree without Birkbeck's help. Not only did the College waive my course fees, it also gave me money to buy books and help with transport. I will never forget Birkbeck, and one day I know I will pay it back in some way.'
