To celebrate Adult Learners’ Week, Birkbeck is hosting a series of free, high quality talks, workshops, and information and advice sessions at Stratford Old Town Hall.
- All are welcome. Booking advised: book your place.
- Stay for one session or the whole day, or dip in and out throughout the three days.
- We offer an inspiring range of talks, tasters and 1-1 sessions about studying at university
We'll also be providing an information stand at Stratford Shopping Centre from 20 May to 24 May. Come along and find out more about studying at Birkbeck.

Wednesday 22nd May
- 12:30 - 1.15pm: Room 1 - Information, Advice and Guidance Drop-in: find out about studying at Birkbeck. Room 2 - What's it like to study in Higher Education? Come along and quiz current and former students.
- 1.15 - 2:30pm: Room 1 - Information, Advice and Guidance Drop-in: find out about studying at Birkbeck. Room 2 - Choosing the Right Course: find out how to choose the course that suits you best, with the help of a qualified careers adviser.
- 2.30 - 4.30pm: Room 1 - How to Apply for 4-Year Degree Courses: advice drop-in. Room 2 - UCAS Extra - How to Apply for 3-year Degree Courses: advice drop-in.
- 4.30 - 6.00pm: Room 1 - East London Visual Histories: explore the ever changing landscapes of East London. With Birkbeck lecturer Liz Johnston Drew. Room 2 - How to Make Your Application: workshop.
- 6.00 - 7.30pm: Room 1 - Beyond the Olympics: Global and Local Politics: find out how the study of politics can help us understand global and local inequalities. With Birkbeck lecturer David Styan. Room 2 - Spanish Language Introductory Workshop.

- 1.15 - 2:30pm: Room 1 - Information, advice and guidance drop-in. Room 2 - Future Focus: Careers Workshop: find out how to make the right career choices, with the help of a qualified careers adviser.
- 2.30 - 4.30pm: Room 1 - Fees and Funding: advice drop-in. Room 2 - Pre-degree Courses at Birkbeck: advice drop-in.
- 4.30 - 6.00pm: Room 1 - The Benefits of Part-Time Higher Education: a talk for teachers, advisers, and anyone interested in finding out more about research in this area. With Birkbeck lecturer Claire Callendar. Room 2 - Creative Writing Workshop: a short introduction to writing fiction and non-fiction, with Birkbeck lecturer Ghazal Mosadeq.
- 5.30 - 6.45pm Foyer and Out and About - The Eastern Gateway: Exploring Stratford’s Past: history talk and walk with Birkbeck lecturer Mike Berlin. Departs 6pm.
- 6.00 - 7.30pm: Room 1 - Your Story at Birkbeck Starts Here: get a sense of what it's like to study English, Arts and Humanities, or Theatre Studies at Birkbeck, with short talks from Birkbeck lecturers. Room 2 - Supporting Children's Reading: find out about the psychological, social and emotional aspects of learning to read, with Birkbeck lecturer Ana Lewin.
