Birkbeck is located at the heart of academic London in Bloomsbury (WC1). This part of central London not only contains a wealth of world-class research resources, but also offers world-famous museums and galleries in a setting of beautiful, leafy squares.

Nearby museums and galleries

• We are five minutes from the British Museum, and the British Library is a 10-minute walk away.
• Also nearby are many other specialist research resources, including the Institute of Commonwealth Studies, the Warburg Institute and the Wellcome Collection.
• Birkbeck is situated at the centre of the University of London’s central London campus – surrounded by other colleges such as University College London (UCL), the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and the School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
• In addition, the University of London Union (ULU) is right next door, and our students can access all of ULU’s sports and social facilities, including the largest indoor pool in central London.

• Our central London location means that Birkbeck is particularly well served by public transport – making it easy to travel to and from the College.
• Birkbeck is surrounded by tube and rail stations, including Russell Square, Tottenham Court Road, Goodge Street, Euston, King’s Cross and the International Eurostar Station at St Pancras. Many bus routes run nearby and you’ll find an extensive network of cycle routes leading to Birkbeck.
