2013 University of London student accommodation applications open

We are now accepting applications for places in University of London Intercollegiate Halls for students who will be studying with us in 2013.

Accommodation within the halls ranges from single student rooms to family flats. They are all situated in Central London, close to the College campuses.

You will find more information about the Intercollegiate Halls, including the location, facilities and prices of each hall on the Intercollegiate Halls website.

To apply please complete a form available on our website, and return to the International Office.

Join our photo competition on Facebook - if you win, you will get a £20 book token and the opportunity to have your photo featured on the Birkbeck Facebook page for a week!

How to enter

Pick up your Welcome Pack, where you will find your Birkbeck speech-bubble card. You can get your welcome pack at the International Students' Orientation Welcome Afternoon on Monday 24 September. If you are not able to attend the Welcome Afternoon, please feel free to come to the International Office, Room G11, Malet Street Building, to pick up a speech-bubble card and enter the competition.
Take a photo of yourself holding your Birkbeck speech-bubble card in front of a famous London attraction or landmark.
Upload your photo to the Birkbeck Facebook page with the title 'International student competition'. Tell us what course you are studying and what country you are from.
The photo with the most 'likes' wins a £20 Waterstone's book voucher, and will be used as the cover image on the Birkbeck Facebook page for a week.
Closing date: 30 September 2012

Terms and conditions

The competition is open to all full-time international students (overseas fee paying). The speech-bubble must be included in the photo, and there is a limit of one entry per student.

Chinese Doctor of International Business Administration students attend Birkbeck summer school

On Monday 21 May, a group of 20 Doctor of International Business Administration students from the South Western University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) in China visited Birkbeck for a one-day lecture series on the European Debt Crisis.

The summer school was organised as part of the innovative partnership signed between the Department of Management and the School of International Business at SWUFE last June.

Dr Linda Trenberth, Head of the Department of Management at Birkbeck, said: “We are delighted to welcome the SWUFE students to Birkbeck today. We have put together a programme which draws on the expertise on the European Crisis that exists across our School, and which we hope will provide our visitors with new insights and perspectives.”

This visit follows on from other successful collaborations, including visits by Birkbeck academics to China to collaborate on SWUFE programmes and deliver short courses, and the establishment of a dual degree which enables SWUFE students to study at Birkbeck for the second year of their Master’s degree, completing a Department of Management Master’s programme within this time.

Jue Wang, from SWUFE, said: “Already both institutions are seeing the benefits from this partnership. We are delighted to have been able to bring this group of students to Birkbeck today, and to have welcomed colleagues from Birkbeck at SWUFE. We look forward to continuing to work together.”

London Critical Theory Summer School

The second London Critical Theory Summer School will take place at Birkbeck, University of London, from 27 June - 8 July 2011.

This unique opportunity is for graduate students and academics to follow a course of study with some of the great intellectuals of our time.

The aim of the course is to foster exchange and debate and will consist of at least 6 modules over the two weeks, each convened by one of the participating academics.
