As a student at Birkbeck, you won't just be able to take advantage of all of the world-famous attractions which come with our central London location. You'll also find a range of social and leisure opportunities on campus for times when you are not in the lecture theatre, laboratory or library.
University of London Union (ULU)
Birkbeck is situated right next door to the famous University of London Union (ULU). ULU is the hub for social activities on campus.
Its facilities include:
- bars and cafes
- a gym
- the largest indoor swimming pool in London
- clubs and societies
- a live music venue
- shops and much more.

International Students' House
International Students' House (ISH) is a student residence and a unique social, cultural and recreational centre. ISH is open 365 days a year with a dedicated events team who organise a whole variety of events, examples of which include:
- comedy nights
- cheese and wine tasting
- energetic sports classes
- insightful lectures and debates
- regular quiz nights
- karaoke nights
- DJs in the student bar.
There really is something for everyone to enjoy! The ISH travel club, which subsidises trips by up to 50%, gives budget-conscious students the opportunity to see the rest of the UK and travel to Europe and the rest of the world. Visit the ISH website to find out more.

The Birkbeck Students' Union also provides a host of student welfare services, clubs and societies, and a student bar.
