Getting to Birkbeck

Arriving at London's airports

London Heathrow and London Gatwick are the two main international airports serving London. Both of these airports are situated on the outskirts of London, however they do have good transport links to the city. Further details on how to travel in to central London can be found below.

• If you are flying in to London Heathrow you can take the London Underground (Piccadilly Line, Eastbound) to King's Cross or Russell Square, or take the Heathrow Express to Paddington station. Taxis will be easy to find at either station.
• For those flying in to London Gatwick, we suggest you take the Gatwick Express to Victoria Station, then take a taxi.
• National Express also runs bus services from Heathrow and Gatwick airports to London Victoria Bus Station in central London. This can be a cheaper option, although it is slower.
• It is also possible to get a taxi at Heathrow or Gatwick airports directly to your accommodation or to Birkbeck. We would strongly advise booking a taxi in advance if you wish to do this, otherwise the cost could be very high.

Public transport in London

London's public transport system is often the cheapest and quickest way of travelling around London. Full-time students are eligible for discounted travel using a Transport for London (TfL) Student Oyster card.

The closest London Underground (Tube) stations to Birkbeck are:

• Russell Square (Piccadilly Line)
• Goodge Street (Northern Line)
• Warren Street (Northern Line and Victoria Line).

Birkbeck is also served by many public bus routes, and Euston, King's Cross and St Pancras International train stations are within a short walking distance.
