Private halls of residence, hostels and housing associations

There are a wide range of private accommodation options in London, all of which offer different types of accommodation at varying prices.

There are many private halls of residence, which usually offer good quality accommodation and have various facilities such as a gym and organise social events for residents.  There are also halls which cater for specific groups of students, such as faith based or single-sex.

Each hall of residence has its own eligibility criteria and application process, please visit the halls' websites provided in the document below to find out how to apply.

Other options available include hostels, a number of which are located near Birkbeck.  They offer comfortable, low cost, basic accommodation which would suit those on a budget.

For students with families, housing associations offer accommodation at heavily subsidised rates, but often have long waiting lists.  Please contact them directly for more information.  You may also wish to consider private rented accommodation and the family accommodation that is available through the University of London.
