With locations in central and east London, Birkbeck is one of the world’s best known and highly regarded universities, renowned for its inspiring research and outstanding teaching. But Birkbeck is also unique: the majority of our teaching takes place in the evening from 6 to 9pm, providing students with freedom and flexibility in the daytime.

Most of our students work during the day and we have an exceptional careers service to support you at every stage of your career journey.

Where are we?

Our main campus is in the heart of Bloomsbury, central London. The closest underground and mainline rail stations are: Russell Square, which is about 40 minutes by underground from the Greenwich campus; Tottenham Court Road, King's Cross/St Pancras and Euston. In addition, many buses stop nearby.

Birkbeck has an additional large campus in Stratford, east London (E15). University Square campus is five minutes' walk from Stratford Station, which has excellent transport links, including the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), tube, rail and bus.

Types of degrees we offer

Birkbeck offers both full-time and part-time undergraduate and postgraduate degrees taught from 6 to 9pm on weekday evenings.

  • Our undergraduate degrees are taught over three years (full-time) and four or more years (part-time).
  • Our postgraduate degrees are taught over one year (full-time) and two or more years (part-time).

Funding your studies

All of our degree courses have tuition fees. The amount you pay depends on whether you are assessed as a UK, EU or overseas student.
