New MSc Politics, Philosophy & Economics open for applications

The MSc PPE is our newest cross-disciplinary postgraduate programme, now open for study commencing October 2018.

Birkbeck College is now accepting applications for a new postgraduate programme, the MSc Politics, Philosophy and Economics, commencing October 2018.

The new course is the only PPE programme available for part-time evening study in the UK.

Politics, philosophy and economics have long been recognised as areas that overlap and inform one another, and it was only relatively recently in intellectual history that the three were separated. The MSc PPE brings together these subjects to help students understand and engage with the world.

The new programme introduces students to the basics of the three subjects and will hone their ability to understand, evaluate and analyse real-world information. The study of philosophy will introduce critical reasoning and some of the most profound questions it is possible to ask about humanity. The study of politics will inform students about modern governing structures in the UK, EU and further afield, and acquaint students with the concepts and ideas that underpin the theory and practice of politics. The study of economics will show how business, finance and politics intersect and determine how we live and work.

Students on the programme can choose from a wide range of option modules, with the expertise of three distinguished departments at their disposal: Economics, Mathematics and Statistics; Philosophy; and Politics.

The programme convener for the new course is Sandeep Kapur, Professor of Economics.

You can apply for the MSc PPE directly through the Birkbeck website.
