email: m.garnett (at) bbk.ac.uk
| Michael Garnett received his BA and MPhil in philosophy at Cambridge University, before proceeding to a PhD at the University of Toronto. After briefly trying his hand as a secondary school teacher, he took up a College Lectureship at Wadham College, Oxford, before coming to Birkbeck in 2007. Michael Garnett’s research interests are in political philosophy, ethics, and the philosophy of agency. His current project is an investigation into the nature of freedom. He is pursuing the idea that the standard way of thinking about autonomy - as involving some type of internal self-control - may be mistaken, and is also working on issues surrounding the measurement of freedom. |
