Biography
Yi-Ling Lai joined the Department of Organizational Psychology as a Lecturer in January of 2020. Prior to working at Birkbeck, Yi-Ling has had several years academic experience at the University of Portsmouth. Yi-Ling completed her PhD in Occupational Psychology at the University of Surrey and her research mainly concentrates on the psychological evidence in the coaching process. Recently, Yi-Ling extends her research focus by drawing social psychological theory such as social identity to organization studies (e.g. workplace well-being and resilience).
Yi-Ling is also taking active roles in several sub-committees of BPS, such as the Editor of BPS International Coaching Psychology Review (ICPR). In addition, Yi-Ling won the Highly Commended Paper in the 2020 Emerald Literati Awards.
Yi-Ling current supervises several PhD students, the topics include team coaching, psychological assessment and executive coaching as well as the application of coaching intervention to facilitate cancer patients' illness identity sponsored by The Fountain Centre NHS Royal Surrey Hospital (2019-2022). I have supervised several professional doctoral students and helped them to obtain their professional doctoral degree successfully.

(2) Dr Stephen Corbett (DBA, 2016-2020) - Developing a contextualised competency framework for further education middle managers in England. (University of Portsmouth, 2nd Supervisor).
