Responsibilities

Jo Yarker and Rachel Lewis works in a job share arrangement – their research, supervision, teaching and professional achievements are a shared endeavour.

Rachel and Jo lead the Professional Doctorate in Organisational Psychology. This innovative programme has been designed to is designed as an alternative to the British Psychological Society's (BPS) Stage 2 Qualification in Occupational Psychology. The first two years support students as they develop their professional competence and prepare them for independent research, while the final two years are focused on developing research excellence.  We have a team of excellent practitioners and academics who support us in delivering the programme.

We are also excited to launch Birkbeck Connections, a new forum to connect current students, alumni and professionals working across the field. Bringing opportunities for networking events, shared practice and an opportunity to keep up to date with research, Birkbeck Connections aims to provide a forum for advancing research and practice in the field.

Beyond Birkbeck, Jo and Rachel regularly contribute to forums and working groups within the British Psychological Society; are members of the Academic Forum of the Society of Occupational Medicine; review for a number of journals; host the Affinity Health at Work Research Consortium with participation from leading UK public policy and professional representation as well as public and private businesses; and are committed to sharing evidence through routes such as the Affinity Work, Health and Wellbeing hub which provides free, curated evidence based resources for practitioners working in the field.
