Prospective students

Birkbeck has been London's only specialist provider of part-time higher education since it was founded in 1823. The vast majority of our students study part-time in the evenings and Birkbeck is geared to supporting the needs of students who are juggling daytime work or other commitments with evening study.

The Mini MBA

  • The Mini MBA offers a crash course in management. This short course introduces you to the major skills and knowledge required to master management and will help you decide if you wish to pursue a full-blown MBA degree or other management award.

Career Management and Coaching (MSc)

  • This degree in career management and coaching combines an in-depth study of career management, counselling and coaching with practical training in career counselling skills, the development of research skills and the academic study of behaviour at work. It is one of the few courses in the UK to focus on adult career management and counselling.
  • Skills days: students on the MSc Career Management and Coaching and Postgraduate Diploma in Coaching courses must also attend compulsory skills day workshops held at the Clore building.

Coaching (Postgraduate Certificate)

  • Combining academic study with practical application and skill development, this postgraduate certificate in coaching is the essential starting place for experienced managers who wish to understand the role of professional helping relationships at work, and their impact in and out of organisations.
  • Skills days: students on the MSc Career Management and Coaching and Postgraduate Diploma in Coaching courses must also attend compulsory skills day workshops held at the Clore building.

Human Resource Development (HRD) and Consultancy (MSc)

Human Resource Management (MSc)

  • This MSc in Human Resource Management is aimed at those who wish to develop a critical understanding of people and organisations. It focuses on strategic and individual-level improvements, through assessment of the role of human resource management (HRM) in modern organisations, the issues involved in developing strategic aims (including on an international basis), employment relations, and selecting, motivating and developing staff. Management Consultancy and Organisational Change (MSc)

  • This MSc in Management Consultancy and Organisational Change is designed from the perspective of practising consultants and provides a unique combination of the latest theoretical thinking on strategic management with practical insights into successful organisational change. You will learn to apply the tools and techniques used by some of the most successful management consultancies.

Occupational Psychology (MSc)

  • Offered both face-to-face and via network learning, the Occupational Psychology (MSc) is aimed at those who wish to develop their understanding of people and organisations. You will gain a broad knowledge base in occupational psychology and organizational behaviour. Both degrees focus on discussions of current research, with the aim of encouraging you to engage in critical thinking and reflection on theory and practice. You will also acquire basic applied research skills.
