Judith Silver, MSc Occupational Psychology 1992
I was a member of the first Network Learning cohort.
I came to the MSc. programme from teaching Psychology in the Further Education sector and returned to the teaching arena after the course without putting my M.Sc. qualification into professional practice, but nevertheless my participation in the M.Sc. programme was a formative experience which changed my thinking. Jean Hartley's Employment Relations module was the most exciting and revolutionised my views about Trade Unions.
These days I teach A Level and International Baccalaureate Psychology to sixthformers in the secondary school sector. I am old enough to have taken retirement but really enjoy my teaching , which gives me a strong sense of personal and professional identity. I intend to continue , albeit on a reducing part-time basis, for as long as the system will allow me.
