A passionate supporter of part-time higher education has been recognised by The Guardian for her tireless efforts at Birkbeck and beyond to advocate for the importance of the part-time student experience.

Tricia King, Pro-Vice-Master for Student Experience and Director of External Relations at Birkbeck, has been nominated for the Inspiring Leadership award in the inaugural Guardian University Awards. Uniquely in the Guardian awards, the shortlist of eight leaders from the higher education sector has been nominated by the Guardian's panel of judges and the winner will be decided by a public vote.

Tricia King said: “I am surprised and honoured to have been nominated for this Award. I hope it will raise the profile both of Birkbeck and part-time students across the UK. For too long they have been neglected. What has delighted me is that so many of the shortlist champion the importance of social mobility through education. That in itself is already a success and shows that this important work is making an impact in the sector.”
