The Department of Cultures and Languages at Birkbeck, University of London is delighted to announce three new studentships for the next academic year (2017-18).
We invite applications for up to three Sasakawa Postgraduate Studentships in Japanese Studies for 2017-18, with the generous support from the Nippon Foundation and the Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation (GBSF).
Each studentship consists of £10,000 to be used towards either a Master’s degree or a Doctoral Programme with a focus on Japanese Studies at Birkbeck, starting in October 2017. Candidates interested in various aspects of modern and contemporary Japanese culture and society, including theatre/performance, visual arts, popular culture, gender/sexuality and comparative literature (19th-20th centuries) are especially encouraged to apply.
