Orientation events at Birkbeck

The programme of Orientation and course induction events are a great chance for students to meet new classmates and to prepare as well as possible for the start of term.

Birkbeck's main campus on Malet Street where orientation days take place

Hundreds of new students will start their courses at Birkbeck this October and begin a new chapter of their lives.

New students will have received an invite to their programme of induction events and to the Birkbeck Orientation Day, to enable students to familiarise themselves with the campus, get to know fellow students and be ready for the start of term.

Most programme inductions will take place between 23 and 27 September. The inductions will offer an overview of how the programme will be run, and the options available. Just as importantly, you will get the chance to meet new classmates, as well as the lecturers and administrative staff in your department.

Birkbeck Orientation Day will take place on Saturday 28 September 2019, from 9.30am to 3pm at our main Malet Street campus. During Orientation, you'll receive key information about studying at Birkbeck. The sessions will include study skills information, a careers networking session, and an overview of the library resources and student services needed to make the most of your time at university.

The Careers Fair and the Students' Union Fresher's Fair will run at the same time at Senate House, where incoming students can meet their Student Union reps, find out about social events, and join some of the many clubs and societies on offer.

The Students’ Union has also arranged a programme of events for new and returning students, including a Wine and Cheese night, Crafternoon, an afternoon of stress-busting crafts to help you relax and unwind, and the Big Birkbeck Quiz.
