Pioneer Awards Ceremony Goes Virtual
Pioneer is Birkbeck’s dedicated programme for our entrepreneurial students and six finalists have been shortlisted to pitch their business to a panel of judges
On Thursday 18 June we’ll be putting on our finest attire and opening our doors, virtually, for an evening of excitement, innovation and a touch of glitz. It’s the Pioneer Awards & Celebration Evening 2020, marking the finale of this year’s incredible programme that has taken hundreds of students on an inspirational journey to develop their business ideas.
Six exceptional finalists will be pitching to an exciting line-up of judges, competing for the crown of Best Business Idea and Best Business Pitch. Each award is worth a £1000 cash prize to support their business, along with a bespoke package of mentoring, coaching and promotion.
From sustainability, matchmaking and mental health, to innovative travel, empowering publications and space tech, the diversity of businesses is huge. Each finalist will have 3 minutes to pitch their heart out followed by 3 minutes of questions from the judges.
As well as revealing the winners, the evening will celebrate and congratulate the journey that every Pioneer student has taken this year, encouraging them to continue with their business ventures. We’ll also be looking ahead to the 2021 programme, which for the first time is open for non-Birkbeck students to enrol onto as a Short Course in starting a business.
