Birkbeck welcomes new Fellows

Leading figures recognised for their contribution to College life

Birkbeck welcomes six new Fellows to the College this autumn. Elected annually by the College Governors, the award of a Birkbeck Fellowship recognises individuals who have either given outstanding service to the College or who have attained distinction in their fields or in connection with Birkbeck.

Birkbeck’s 2014 Fellows are drawn from academia, political and public life. They are:

Professor Laurel Brake, Professor Emerita of Literature and Print Culture, Birkbeck

Mary Curnock Cook OBE, Chief Executive, Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS)

Professor Philip Dewe, Professor of Organisational Behaviour, Birkbeck

Professor Sir Alan Langlands FRSE FMedSci, (pictured right) Vice-Chancellor, University of Leeds

John McDonnell MP, Member of Parliament for Hayes and Harlington

Peter Westley, former Director of Finance, Birkbeck
