Art and Humanities at Birkbeck ranked in top 100 worldwide

The College’s Arts and Humanities courses placed at 92 in the 2020 Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings.

Birkbeck’s Arts and Humanities courses have been ranked in the top 100 globally in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2020. The subject-specific rankings are recognised as one of the most prestigious and global with judges rating universities on the quality of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

The School of Arts incorporates the Departments of English, Theatre and Creative Writing, Cultures and Languages, History of Art, and Film, Media and Cultural Studies. Interdisciplinarity is at the heart of the School’s mission and contributes to the richness of the courses available to students. Graduates from the department go on to enjoy careers in a wide variety of industries and roles, in academia and education as well as the creative industries, the civil service, and the non-profit sector. The ranking also takes into account Birkbeck's world-class Departments of History, Classics and Archaeology and Philosophy, as well as courses in Applied Linguistics and Communication
