Obama one year on. The opacity of hope?

One year after his inauguration, President Obama's foreign policy remains a work in progress—not so much the audacity as the opacity of hope, writes Professor Rob Singh on the new US website Politics3.com.

"In the commentariat sweepstakes to identify an 'Obama Doctrine' to succeed that of George W. Bush, no analysts have yet succeeded in establishing a definitive Obama worldview.

And while some on the right excoriate Obama as weak, naive and feckless, others on the left seem to exhibit a buyer's remorse about a president whose once-great appeal to enlist hope in order to effect transformative change appears to have foundered."
