A.C. Grayling on Dreams of Utopia
Professor Anthony Grayling will be speaking this month at How The Light Gets In - the UK's first ever philosophy and music festival, at Hay-on-Wye.
Is Western society being undermined by the values that built it? Over 300 years since the dawn of the Enlightenment, have freedom and individuality run their course? Or is the post modern attack on traditional values the source of the current malaise? How the Light Gets In invites top thinkers and philosophers to explore modern social and philosophical values in Philosophy Session debates.
On Saturday 30 May, A.C. Grayling will speak in the discussion Dreams of Utopia with author and broadcaster Kenan Malik, sociologist Ruth Levitas and anarchist Alex Prichard. The debate will be chaired by Susan Neiman, Director of the Einstein Forum.
The festival is running until Sunday 31 May and has a diverse line up of speakers, bands and comedy, including debates and speeches with Zygmunt Bauman, Steve Fuller, Will Hutton, Phillip Blond, Geoff Mulgan and more, music from Michael Nyman, Stephen Fretwell and Baka Beyond and comedy sketches from Ed Aczel and Robin Ince, among others.
