My Birkbeck Profile troubleshooting guide

Your username and password

Your username will be all in lowercase, and always begins with a letter.

Security settings

If you can login to the test area but are unable to login to My Birkbeck Profile, it may be that your internet browser is not set up to be able to connect to a secure site.

In Internet Explorer you should follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
  2. On the Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section and check that the boxes for Use SSL 2.0, Use SSL 3.0 and Use TLS 1.0 are ticked as seen in the image below.

If you have a different browser, then you will need to configure the above equivalent settings, although most browsers are already configured to allow secure site access.

If you are still having difficulties accessing the My Birkbeck Profile site, please contact the ITS Helpdesk, giving as much detail as you can about the problem, particularly giving the text of any error messages that may have been displayed in your web browser.
