Revising for exams and exam techniques
In this workshop, you will be introduced to effective ways
of revising for exams. You will also learn techniques you can practise to improve your answers to exam questions. It will include:
- Revision strategies: doing a timetable, selecting topics, using past papers, planning answers, writing to time, and using memory effectively;
- Exam techniques: choosing questions, dividing your time, preparing an answer to the question, and coping with stress.
Lunch 12.30 - 13.15 p.m.
Using your reading list, referencing your work and searching the library catalogues
- This workshop will focus on helping you to distinguish between 'must read' and 'nice to read' and give you tips and techniques for efficient and effective reading strategies.
- Referencing: will discuss what is meant by referencing, why it is important to reference correctly and look at examples of good referencing.
- This workshop will look at different kinds of academic texts and you will learn how to write references in your essays, and how to find information yourself.
