Who can we help?
Our support services aim to treat every person as an individual with needs that may differ from those of other people with a superficially similar disability. Therefore we do not have a 'set of procedures for students with dyslexia' or a 'set of procedures for visually impaired students', as each person's needs are considered individually. To find out more about the kind of support we may be able to provide, please see the following:
- Autism and Asperger's syndrome
- blindness and visual impairment
- deafness and hearing impairments
- dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD and other specific learning difficulties
- medical conditions, including HIV, epilepsy, diabetes, heart conditions, respiratory conditions, severe asthma or chronic fatigue syndrome
- mental health needs, including students with depression, anxiety, bipolar affective disorder, schizophrenia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder
- mobility difficulties, including wheelchair users, back / neck / hip / knee consitions, arthritis, fibromyalgia, RSI, osteoporosis
- any other condition that may affect your ability to study,
or if you'd like to talk to us about how we can support you during
your studies at Birkbeck, please contact the Disability Office, who may be able to offer some support
