Am I eligible?

To be eligible for the DSA you should:

  • have a disability or specific learning difficulty and be likely to incur disability-related support costs on your course
  • have been 'ordinarily resident' in the UK, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man for the three years immediately before starting the course (and not wholly or mainly for the purpose of receiving full-time education)
  • be a UK national / EU migrant worker or have 'settled status' in the UK (under the terms of the Immigration Act 1971) - in other words, there are no immigration restrictions on how long you can stay in the UK
  • be studying at least 50% of a full-time course:
    • This includes our Foundation Degrees, BA/BSc and LLB degrees and postgraduate courses. If you are planning to study a Certificate of Higher Education, you will need to take courses equalling 60 CATS points in each academic year to qualify.

You will not be eligible for the Disabled Students' Allowance if you are an overseas student. (Check our residence requirements if you are not sure.)
