Ergonomic input devices

We offer a range of ergonomic input devices, including keyboards and mice, to enable you to use our computers while you're at Birkbeck.

Examples of ergonomic input devices

Anir or Ergonomic mouse: this mouse is used vertically, with a rocker style mouse button on top, which is controlled by the thumb, down for left mouse click, and up for right. The whole of the upper arm is used to control mouse movements, reducing strain to the wrist. Picture of two anir mouse input devices.
Quill mouse: this mouse is designed to keep the hand vertical to the desktop, and supports the hand which rests within the mouse. There is a scroll button operated by the thumb; left and right click are operated by first and second fingers. Picture of two quill mice input devices.
Gold Touch Split Keyboard

The left and right hand parts of the keyboard can be split and angled independently to suit the users needs. There is no number pad, so the mouse can be pulled in closer to the keyboard.

Mini keyboard

This is a laptop-style keyboard measuring 29x14 cm, which allows the mouse to be positioned where the number pad would normally sit on a standard keyboard. This promotes a comfortable working position without overstretching to reach the mouse. The keys are closer together than standard which can be helpful for one handed users.
