Applying to Birkbeck
Open evening
Students can register to attend Birkbeck’s Open Evening by contacting the My Birkbeck helpdesk. We recommend that you inform the helpdesk staff if you have a disability, so that the Disability Office can send you useful information on access, car parking and support available at Birkbeck.
If you want to attend an Open Evening and have disability-related needs we advise you to contact the Disability Office, so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
Declaring your disability on the application form
Birkbeck now has online application forms which have been fully tested for accessibility. However if you experience any difficulty filling in the online application form then please contact the Disability Office, who may be able to assist.
Declaring your disability on the application form
When you apply, you will be asked to declare your disability:
- For admissions tutors: You will be asked to indicate your disability so that your admissions tutor can make arrangements to accommodate your needs if you are asked to attend an interview. Unless you have included this information, the admissions tutor will not be aware of your disability, and so they may not be able to meet specific support needs you have at the interview.
- For the Higher Education Statistical Agency (HESA): You will also be asked for the category of your disability. This information is sought by the Higher Education Statistical Agency (HESA) for statistical purposes.
College disability pack
Where you have declared a disability on your application form, we will send you a copy of the College disability pack, giving you details of our support and inviting you to contact the Disability Office for advice on obtaining support.
