Mitigating circumstances are unforeseen, unpreventable circumstances that significantly disrupt your academic performance, such as an illness or bereavement.
If you wish mitigating circumstances to be taken into consideration:
- You should complete the standard (PDF) (MS Word) and submit it, with documentary evidence as appropriate, to your course administrator, normally within seven days of the published final assessment deadline or examination.
- The case will then be considered by the Mitigation Sub-committee of the relevant Board of Examiners. This is in confidence, and you may request that only the Chair of the panel has sight of your form.
