If you've been offered a place on an undergraduate degree or certificate course this autumn, either at Birkbeck or at another university, you will find our 'Learning Strategies' course invaluable. The module will introduce you to some of the skills, techniques and processes that can help you with your future learning. It will cover research skills; academic writing; seminar presentations; reflective learning and planning your personal and professional development. 

Want an extended course?

If you have not studied for a good while and you're looking for a course that will provide a more extended preparation before you apply for an undergraduate degree, then our course in Higher Education Introductory Studies (HEIS) might be more suitable. It provides an excellent opportunity to explore different subject areas before you decide on a particular degree. 

Want a short course to experience part-time learning?

Alternatively, if you're looking for a one-term module starting in September that will introduce you to Birkbeck's unique pattern of evening study, then the 'Introductions' module on the HEIS course could be worth considering. It will prepare you for further study and can also count towards other qualifications at Birkbeck should you decide to continue your studies.
