School of Arts workshop timetable

Welcome to the School of Arts workshop programme. These sessions are devised to equip students, especially of the Arts, Humanities and Languages (including students on "joint" degree programmes) with the basic academic and English language skills which will enable them to interact effectively and enjoyably with the varying categories of information which they encounter. These events are the equivalent of cognitive knives and forks which will enable you to cut up and consume the academic feast on your plate. Workshops are conducted through a mix of tutor-instruction, practice exercises, and pair- and group activities. These workshops are open to all enrolled students, including any postgraduate students who wish to attend.

For more detailed information on the content of each session, click on the title of the workshop. To book a place, click on the "book now" link in the right-hand column. To do this, you will need your Birkbeck username and password. If a workshop is oversubscribed, please do utilise the "join a standby list" function and record your name on the waiting list. I do check before each session to see if there have been cancellations and email students on the standby list, accordingly.
