Arts Essay Writing Workshop 1: What IS ‘Academic’ Writing?
In workshop 1, we consider the basic attributes of ‘Academic Writing’ in the Arts and Humanities.
We pose two fundamental questions: what is characteristic of Academic Writing across ALL disciplines in British academic culture? Are there distinctive features of Academic Writing – especially of essays – in the Arts and Humanities?
We look at such matters as rigour, structure, coherence, register, achieving ‘your informed voice’, developing an ‘argument’. And we think about what gets in the way of our ability to write in this manner.
This workshop allows you to air all those questions you have felt are “too obvious”, or “too silly” to ask.
This course is not currently timetabled. You can add your name to a waiting list if you are interested in attending at a future date.
