About the Reid Access Bursary
Thanks to the generosity of the Guildford Academic Associates, Birkbeck is proud to announce the establishment of a new endowment fund for one annual bursary supplement covering the successful recipient for four years of study beginning in 2011/12.
In memory of the late Dr Joan Reid, a former student who studied at Birkbeck in the 1940’s, whilst employed in a company laboratory 20 miles outside unlit wartime London and in the words of her husband Eric Reid “undertook arduous spare-time study to complete her Chemistry degree”.
The annual 'supplement' bursary will be awarded to one first year student experiencing financial difficulties, studying a four-year part-time degree in BSc Chemical and Molecular Biology or BSc Geology commencing in 2011/12. Preference will go to female students.
