Professor Moorad Choudhry Scholarship 2011/12

The Scholarship is for a first-year student for the full tuition fees of one of the following part-time undergraduate degrees in the Department of Management: Business BSc, Management BA or Foundation Degree in Management.  It is an individual scholarship, and as such competition is expected to be strong.  The competition for 2011/12 is now closed.

Eligibility criteria

You will be eligible to apply for this bursary if you satisfy all of the following criteria:

You must:

  • be a first-year student enrolled on a part-time undergraduate Business BSc, Management BA or Foundation Degree in Management in the School of Business, Economics and Informatics
  • be a UK citizen or Commonwealth citizen eligible for ‘Home’ fees
  • not hold an equivalent or higher level qualification to the programme for which you are applying
  • have made sufficient financial provision to meet the remaining costs associated with your course
  • have a gross annual income for the 2010/11 Tax Year that falls into one of the categories as detailed in the chart below:

Single student, no dependent children Up to and including £25,420
Single student, one dependent child Up to and including £27,420
Single student, two dependent children* Up to and including £28,420
Married/Partnered student, no dependent children Up to and including £27,420
Married/Partnered student, one dependent child Up to and including £29,420
Married/Partnered student, two dependent children* Up to and including £30,420

*If you have more than two dependent children, add an extra £1000 for each additional child

About Professor Choudhry

This scholarship is funded thanks to the generosity of Birkbeck alumnus Professor Moorad Choudhry PhD (2008), who has established this scholarship to ensure that an exceptionally talented, motivated and driven individual, seeking to study at undergraduate level within the Department of Management, faces no financial barrier in allowing them to succeed and complete their studies.  Moorad was born in Bangladesh and grew up in Surrey, England.  He is an MD in Global Banking & Markets, Royal Bank of Scotland, and Visiting Teaching Fellow at the Department of Management, Birkbeck.
