The Eliahou Dangoor Scholarships: 2011/12

The Eliahou Dangoor Scholarships have been created to provide talented students with the opportunity to study science, technology, engineering and mathematics subjects at the leading universities in the United Kingdom.

The Exilarch's Foundation is offering a number of Eliahou Dangoor scholarships (worth £750 if part-time and £1000 if full-time) to new undergraduate degree students for the 2011/12 academic session. The scholarships are available for the first year of study only.

Eligibility criteria

You will be eligible if you meet the following criteria:

  • You must be undertaking the first year of an undergraduate degree beginning in October 2011.
  • You must be planning to study one of the following:
    • BSc Biological Chemistry
    • BSc Biological Sciences
    • BSc Chemical Biology
    • BSc Earth Sciences
    • BSc Environmental Geology
    • BSc Geography and Environment
    • BSc Geology
    • BSc Information Systems and Computing
    • BSc Information Systems and Management
    • BSc Mathematics
    • BSc Mathematics and Economics
    • BSc Planetary Science with Astronomy
    • BSc Statistics and Economics
    • BSc Statistics and Management
  • If you are single, your gross income for the 2010-2011 tax year must be less than £30,000.
  • If you have a spouse/partner, your combined gross income for the 2010-2011 tax year must be less than £32,000 (if you have dependent children, these thresholds are raised by £2,000 for the first child and £1,000 for each additional child in your household).
  • You must have enrolled on your course at Birkbeck before payment can be made.
  • You must be a ‘Home’ student.
  • You must currently be resident in the UK.

How do I apply?

You should return your completed application form, including photocopies of any relevant supporting documents, to the Student Financial Support Office by Friday 11th November 2011.

Terms and conditions

The following terms and conditions apply:

  • The names and degree programmes of all those students awarded a scholarship will be passed to the Exilarch's Foundation for their information.
  • If you are successful in obtaining an Eliahou Dangoor scholarship, you may be asked to assist Birkbeck with the promotion of such bursaries by attending donor-related events, providing feedback or participating in some publicity.
