Annual fee increases
All tuition fees are subject to annual increases and are not fixed for the duration of the programme of study.
- Fees are usually set in spring each year for the following academic year.
- Fees for new students are published on the Birkbeck website with the individual course listings.
- Continuing students will be notified about their fees for the following year via their My Birkbeck Profile during the summer.
Fees for part-time students continuing their studies from the 2011/12 academic year into the 2012/13 academic year
Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE) and Foundation Degree students
- If you were enrolled on a Certificate of Higher Education or a Foundation Degree student in the 2011/12 academic year, you can complete your programme of study and then progress to study a part-time honors degree (e.g. BA, BSc, LLB) under the current fees and finance system provided that there is no break in studies in between.
- Under the existing system for part-time students, you would pay the pre-2012 fees (subject to annual increses) and be eligible to apply for non-repayable government fee and course grants to help finance your studies. You will not be eligible for a student loan.
Undergraduate degree students (BA/BSc/LLB)
- If you are currently studying an Honours degree you will remain under the existing fees and funding system until the end of your degree.
- Under the existing system for part-time students, you would pay the pre-2012 fees (subject to annual increses) and will also be eligible to apply for non-repayable government fee and course grants to help finance your studies. You will not be eligible for a student loan.
Fees for postgraduate and MPhil/PhD students
- The Government’s changes to university fees and funding for 2012 currently only affect undergraduate courses (i.e. BA, BSc, LLB, Foundation Degree, Certificate of Higher Education), not postgraduate courses (MA, MSc, LLM, PhD).
- You will not be eligible for a student loan.
