I'm a senior lecturer in the Department of Management at Birkbeck. Previously, I was a lecturer at Henley Business School, University of Reading where I was also Director of Postgraduate Programmes. I have held visiting positions at Kings College London and Cranfield School of Management.

My research interests are broadly focussed on the impact of digital technologies on organisations, consumers and society. Current and recent projects have focussed on customer privacy and big data, virtualisation of work, online research techniques and digital business models. I regularly give talks to organisations and industry groups on issues relating to the digital economy, privacy and regulation. I have also worked with a number of public bodies including the UK Cabinet Office.

I have written over 40 refereed journal articles and conference papers. My work has been published in leading journals including the Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Business EthicsJournal of Small Business ManagementIndustrial Marketing ManagementNew Technology, Work and Employment, and the Journal of Marketing Management. I am lead author of Europe's most popular Marketing Research textbook and am a member of the executive board of the International Journal of Market Research. I have twice been nominated for the MRS Silver Medal and won the 2012 MRS Award for Innovation in Research Methodology.

Prior to my academic career I held a number of senior commercial roles in the private sector, including Associate Director, e-marketing at UBS Wealth Management and Marketing Director at Acunu (acquired by Apple Inc.).
