Accounting and Financial Management

These undergraduate programmes are accredited by both CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) and ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants). Graduates on these programmes that wish to take either the CIMA Chartered Management Accounting Qualification or ACCA Qualification upon graduation will automatically receive a significant number of exemptions from both accounting bodies. Depending on the specific modules chosen, graduates can be exempt from all five of the examinations required for the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting, from three of the nine examinations (those at the operational level) required for the CIMA Chartered Management Accounting Qualification, and from six of the nine Fundamental level examinations for the ACCA qualification. Our Accounting and Financial Management programmes are run by the Accounting and Finance Group. Faculty members of the Accounting and Finance group have substantial experience of teaching accounting and finance at all levels.

Accounting and Financial Management

  • Applied Accounting and Business (BSc) - Part Time
    Fast-track your accounting career. Complement your ICAEW Chartered Accountancy qualification with a part-time degree at Birkbeck. This exciting new partnership allows you to study for an honours degree in Applied Accounting and Business in parallel with your ACA training or when you have completed it at around half the usual cost.
  • Accounting (BSc) - Full time
    Accounting (BSc) - Part time
    BSc Accounting will develop your intellectual capability through arguments; learn how to question existing knowledge and approaches; develop a critical appreciation of the subject matter.
  • Accounting with Finance (BA) - Part time
    BA Accounting with Finance provides you with a good understanding of accounting and finance and the environments in which they operate, and the ability to apply a wide range of accounting and finance skills and competencies.
  • Accounting and Management (BA) - Full time
    Accounting and Management (BA) - Part time
    BA Accounting and Management is a joint degree programme which will provide you with high-level training and knowledge in accounting and its role in management in both the public and private sectors.
  • Accounting and Management with Finance (BSc) - Part time
    BSc Accounting and Management with Finance will enable you to develop a broad understanding of accounting, finance and management with detailed knowledge of accounting practices, finance, strategic management, computing, marketing, managerial economics and quantitative techniques.

Entry requirements:

Applicants under 21 require a minimum of two A Levels or equivalent.

Applicants over 21 can be admitted as mature students based on their qualifications, skills, or relevant work experience

Grade "C" GCSE level English and Maths.

Applicants may be asked to sit a Mathematics test and an English test
