Biography

Dr Kannika (Mink) Leelapanyalert is a Lecturer in Marketing (Assistant Professor) in the Department of Management, Birkbeck College, University of London. She obtained her PhD. in International Business from Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester. Her research investigates into the Factors influencing Internationalisation of Retailing Firms. The emphasis is on cross border retailing activities, which provide a better understanding of requirements and conditions necessary for a successful entry strategy for retailing and networking companies. Case studies examine the similarities and differences in the strategies used by Marks & Spencer and IKEA, entering emerging markets. Kannika was awarded the University Research Bursary to partly support her PhD. She also received a MSc. in Business and Management from the University of Strathclyde and a Postgraduate Diploma in English and Management from the University of Exeter, UK. Prior to this, she obtained a Bachelor in Law from Thammasat University, Bangkok, Thailand.

Prior to joining Birkbeck, Kannika worked as a Lecturer in Marketing at London Metropolitan University for two years. Her teaching experience includes International Marketing, Retail Marketing, Fashion Business and Studying Marketing and Operations at Postgraduate and Undergraduate levels.

Kannika has received “The Excellent Synopses Award” at the Doctoral Conference, The University of Manchester in 2005. In the same year, she also has won “The Most Promising Thesis Award” at the Doctoral Colloquium, Academy of International Business (AIB) conference, The University of Bath. Kannika has published her works in Advances in International Marketing Journal and regularly present her work in several national and international conferences including the Academy of International Business, Academy of Marketing, CIMaR, and Asia Pacific Retail Conference. Finally, she was a panellist at Samaggi Samagom Academic conference and International Colloquium on Asian Business Conference.
